Together with the wolves Nanook & Miwok!!!
A Native Camp is what makes kids closer to Nature and to the spirit of Native people.Without any distraction, deep into the wild, without any technology (not even watches!), boys and girls rediscover with a silent joy, a genuine world which belongs to thei truest heart, a world much too often hidden today by the confusion of our “modern” life. They rediscover the Listening and, so, the Silence: Listening of the wind, of the colours of dawn, of the animals, of the shapes of clouds, of the endless stars surrounding the earth..., of themselves. The kids live into indian tepees (the same ones as in “Dances with Wolves”!) and they learn everything regarding the Sioux Natives. They learn how to dress, how to draw and how to paint as them, and they learn to listen Nature, to respect and love her. And then, also: lots of climbs, hikes, canoeing, nights under the stars, plays, explorations and so on.
This proposed Camp, will be in northern Norway. Our base will be the comfortable Sinjerak Lodge and the tepee Camp will be about half hour away. The place is surrounded by Europe’s wildest mountains and by the land of the Sami Natives (the Lapps) which we will also meet, together with their reindeers. We will also learn how to build with our hands all we need: from Native dresses to the canoe!
These Camps take place each summer since 20 years (always in Dolomiti mountains of italy or in Scandinavia); it was 1987 (I was 20 years old) when I took the first kids’ gang for a whole week acrtoss the Dolomites with all we needed on our shoulders. Since then , hundreds of boys and girls have walked the earth with lightness, without hurting her, much discovering and bringing everytime a new light inside themselves. And in the same time, much leaving of their light inside me.
But no other Camp has ever been as special and intense as the one which took place in the Dolomites from juli 1 to july 20 2007. To give you an idea about it but mainly, to let you understand much better the purposes with which my girlfriend and I oirganize these Camps I’ve collected here images, comments and other things: all what concerns that Camp, about which eveyone goes on to say...: I WAS THERE!
